Cllr Mogridge
I was born in West Ham and lived in West Wickham and Barnstaple before moving to Thanet when I was 7. After Garlinge and Chatham House schools, I headed to Newcastle University to study Linguistics and Computing. After Uni, and until turning 50, I spent most of my adult life in Newcastle, Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
During this time, I worked professionally in a broad range of disciplines across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. I also spent 3 years running my own business.
Immediately before returning to Thanet for family reasons in 2016, we lived in Shetland and I still work for Shetland Islands Council as a Planning Policy and Projects Officer … remotely!
My husband and I moved to Minster in 2021 and love it. It’s great to live somewhere so welcoming with such a strong community spirit and we really feel like we have fallen on our feet.
Why become a Councillor?
Throughout my life, I have been actively involved in civil society through community support and development - acting variously as a committee member, trustee and company director. I firmly believe that if you want a better world, it's no use moaning from the side-lines, you have to get off your bum and muck in. So, when I saw the co-option opportunity, I applied…
With a Minster Parish Council hat on, I am particularly interested in: Meanwhile Land Use; Rural Issues; Earth Rights; Regenerative Practices; Community-building; Community Support and Regeneration; Governance and Democracy; Good Design; Change Management; Fit-for-purpose Processes; and Not reinventing the Wheel.
I try to:
Do as I would be done by.
